I roamed these streets just the other day.
The dull light flashed my eyes so I can’t see.
The glimpse of nothingness made me lose reality.
While the world around is full of apathy.
And I’m a friend you’ll never win.
I’m free from love and full of sin.
This fucked up life just makes me sing.
Cause I’m a freak from the within.
I feel so hot when I’m so cold.
I feel so young but I’m too old.
I feel so high but I’m so low.
I’m made of flesh and made of bones.
Blood rushes deep red through my black soul.
Life is silver, death is gold.
Lungs collapse under the weight
Of once blue skies that turned to grey.
Of heavy rain that hits with pain.
I must return or fade away.
I feel a stranger when I’m home.
I’m in a crowd when I’m alone.
Right now I’m magma then I’m a stone.
I am just swimming when I drown.
Take me down.
Let me drown.
Pierce my soul.
End it all.
But once I’m gone
You’ll be missing me.
You can’t understand
And you still believe
But in the end we both know
It’s just the best for you
To follow me
To the land of dreams.
Plinky shoegaze-inflected guitar rock confronts the world with both nihilism and hope on the sophomore release Philadelphia band Knifeplay. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 1, 2022
The first new music from Philly group Knifeplay, “Hurt Someone” is a dark-hued dreampop song with rippling guitars and ample shadows. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 20, 2021
I was always intrigued by this group's choice of album covers, it isn't every day that you see high quality space photos in this genre despite the rise of "cosmic" black metal. But the music blew me away, this sounds like Austere took the atmospheric spacey route. (I will assume it's a coincidence that both bands are Australian) porcelainheart-
